Buildings of London

2016

I am not prepared to point out the styles of each building yet. But you can realize that London is one of the most beautiful cities: architectonic speaking... the styles vary from Baroque (1600-1750], Georgian (1714-1830), Regency (1811-1822), Victorian (1837-1901), Edwardian (1901-1910), Art Deco (1920-1930), Post-war (1950) and the modern buildings...

This building is a teather and I think it represent the Victorian style. The Victorian style features by intricate and elaborate details. Other examples are: St. Pancras Station and the Houses of Parliament. (buildings that I consider masterpieces)

On the shore of the Thames River the Londoners usually ride a bicycle, run and have fun... The river is part of the city and they put a lot of efforts to make it nice and clean as possible. This year (2018) , they are in the middle of a project to build a massive sewage system. They are thinking about the future, something that I don't see about Tiete river and Pinheiros river in São Paulo city.

The british people care about the past and you can find around the city some stylish signs and details. This image above is a sign representing the Chatham ferry company. Before the Southern Railway appears that company operates the train since 1859 until 1923.

This pic was taken from the Tate Modern Museum. On top of the building you will find a restaurant with a table facing this view... breathtaking.. This pedestrian bridge (Millennium Bridge) was designed by Norman Foster. From here you can see the St. Paul Cathedral in the other side of the river.

Westminster Abbey - the gothic influence is easy to see, the shapes pointing to the sky and the mandala stained glass. From inside of the Abbey you will find sculptures and tombstones full decorated. Enjoy one of the Sunday services.
